RII60520 Advanced Diploma of Civil Construction Design
Overview
Civil construction has become one of the top demanding fields in Australia. Therefore, studying in this qualification provides you with multiple employment opportunities to be successful in the civil construction field. With successful completion of this qualification, you will have developed skills and knowledge to work as a senior civil works designer or a para-professional designer, who supports professional engineers.
The tasks you will perform in these roles are broad, specialised, complex, and technical, including strategic areas and initiating activities. You will also be responsible for designing complex projects to ensure the implementation of the client’s site requirements and are required to demonstrate the self-directed application of theoretical and technical knowledge and initiate solutions to technical problems or management requirements.
Licensing, legislative, regulatory, and certification requirements that apply to this qualification can vary between states, territories, and industry sectors.
You will also learn several engineering drafting standards and receive exposure to computer-aided design (CAD) programs including AutoCAD, and Microsoft Project.
Duration
105 weeks including breaks and holidays. This Blended (Face to face + Online) course is delivered over 2.5 days per week.
Study Mode and Assessment Methods
This course is delivered in a classroom environment and includes structured learning activities including theory, group discussions, case studies, presentations, role plays, research, projects, workplace simulated activities, and written assessments

Pathways
After completing RII60520 – Advanced Diploma of Civil Construction Design students may progress to higher education courses.
This qualification enables the student to seek employment in the following job roles:
- Civil Construction Supervisor
- Civil Design Draftsperson
- Senior Civil Works Designer
Recognition of Prior Learning/Credit Transfer

Please contact our office if you would like to undertake Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or apply for credit transfer. RPL/Credit transfer may reduce your course duration and fees.
