This diploma program is designed to equip students with both foundational and advanced skills essential for managing residential and commercial building projects. The course includes a combination of core and elective units, blending theoretical knowledge with practical experience to ensure graduates are industry-ready.

The program is typically delivered over 24 months, incorporating their visits and also one day a week.ethical learning, practical assessments, and project-based activities. It also includes:

  • Site Visits: Hands-on experience at actual construction sites to bridge theory with real-world application.
  • One Day a Week Face-to-Face Classes (if required): Interactive sessions to address complex topics and ensure personalised support.

Students will have access to facilities to simulate real-world civil construction scenarios.

Description

In this course, you will learn about:

  • Residential Construction: Manage building projects for Class 1 and 10 structures (up to 3 storeys).
  • Commercial Construction: Oversee projects for Class 2 to 9 buildings, Type C and B construction.
  • Key Competencies:
    • Risk and financial management.
    • Estimating and cost control.
    • Contractor selection and supervision.
    • Communication and administration for successful project delivery.

Entry Requirements

  • Completion of the general construction induction training program (CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry) is mandatory for anyone carrying out construction work.
  • While no formal prerequisites are required, a basic understanding of construction concepts or prior industry experience is advantageous

  • Be a resident of South Australia.
  • Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or hold an eligible visa.
